Bishnoi Gotras in Bishnoi Community

Followers of Bishnoism came from different casts, faiths, religions and their original gotra(sub-cast) remained unchanged to identify the race/family. Bishnois do not marry in their own gotra and mother’s gotra. Gotra of Nani & Dadi (grand mother) were also avoided but nowadays it is not considered critical.

Most of the Bishnois were originally Jats but some were Baniyas and other casts. Approximate 100 Gotras are available in Bishnoi Community. Godara gotra has further divisions e.g. Dholia, Songra, Kalia, Piliya.
