Bishnoi Population, Location & language
Bishnoi community is mainly living in Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Utter Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh states but due to spread of education and employment Bishnoi families could be found in other states and abroad also.
In Rajasthan state Bishnois are mainly in districts Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Nagaur, Jalore, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Bhilwara etc.
In Punjab state Bishnois are mainly in district Firojpur and Faridkot.
In Haryana Bishnois are mainly in districts Hissar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Sirsa etc.
In Utter Pradesh Bishnois are in districts Moradabad, Bijnaur, Merrut, Mujjafarnagar etc.
In Uttrakhand Bishnois are in districts, Dehradun, Haridwar, Uddhamsingh nagar etc.
In Madhya Pradesh Bishnois are in districts Harda, Nemawar & Narsinghpura.
In Urissa (Jagannath puri), Maharashtra (Mumbai & Pune) and Delhi also Bishnois are living.
Total population of the community is estimated to less than a million. As per some records e.g. Joshua Project Bishnoi population is 0.6 million, out of which half (0.3 m) is in Rajasthan alone and remaining is in Haryana, Punjab, Utter Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and others.
Most of the Bishnoi population speak Rajasthani (Marwari/Bagri) and Hindi.
